You are "right" the food presented to the gods by man their slave/servant was earth-grown so the "bread of life" offered by Ningishzida and Dumuzi to Adapa on behalf of Anu which would give man immortality was grown on the earth, but "where"? The answer: The "bread of life" offered Adapa had been baked by Adapa at Eridu to present to the god Ea (Sumerian Enki)and Anu. Adapa was a "baker" of bread, provider of drinking water, and he was also a fisherman who provided fish for Ea and Anu to eat. So the "bread of life" which could bestow immortality on man was grown at Eridu and had been baked by Adapa for the gods to eat. Hymns about Eridu meantion the "banqueting table of An" (Anu) so both Anu and Ea were worshipped and fed at Eridu's temple by Adapa. The irony? The bread baked by Adapa had been offered him in heaven on Anu's behalf but he refused to eat it because Ea warned him he would die if he ate it for it was the "bread of death." The Hebrews apparently recast this story, the "bread of death" became a "fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil" and the "bread of life" became "a fruit from the tree of life." The warning from Yahweh to Adam "Do not eat or you will die" was a recast of Ea's warning to Adapa _at Eridu_ "do not eat or you will die." That is to say the pre-biblical Mesopotamian equivalent of Genesis' Garden of Eden where Adam was warned "Don't eat, you will die" was ORIGINALLY at Eridu! Eridu is 12 miles SW of Ur of the Chaldees where Abraham lived. Abraham could see Eridu's ziggurat from the Ur ziggurat, where Adapa was warned "don't eat. you will die." So probably Abraham transformed the gods of edin (the Sumerians uncultivated land about Eridu and Ur he grazed his herds in) into ONE god of Eden. Check out my website www.bibleorigins.net for the full account. You are right that a conflation exists on the garden of Eden myth, several sites were fused together into the Garden: Eridu, Anu's heavenly Abode, the watering hole in edin where Enkidu (Adam) met Shamhat (Eve) and they clothed their nakedness before leaving edin, Enlil's garden at Nippur where "man" a euphemism for the Igigi gods, were expelled for rebellion and man created to replace them.

I like the work of your brief introduction on the Sumerians. Just to let you know the first born so called son of Enki , Ningishzidda was actually a woman. Many Sumeriatologist always refer to Enki's first born as a he when actually it was a woman denoting the 'NIN' which means lady. Her name meant 'Lady of the scientific knowledge'.

Just wanted to suggest removing Eddie Murphy from the rotating list of wonder human beings. His lack of parental involvement and denial of his own child is an embarassment. Let's not condone this type of behavior.

And for the record, Bob Johnson does not deserve my respect. The man made millions exploiting black people. I understand the Clintons are in his pocket, but come on. Hasn't he sold out enough?
